OTAGO BOWLING CLUB.
ANNUAL MEETING. There was a good attendance at tho annual meeting of the Otago Bowling Club, held in the club pavilion last evening. Mi C. Speight (vice-president) occupied the chair, in the absence of the president (Mr W. Dawson). L , The annual report of the committee stated that it would be observed that the finances of ths club were in a very satisfactory position, having a credit balance in the bank of £ls 13s 2d. They regretted having to record the loss of two of the oldest and ■esteemed members, removed by dea.th—viz., Messrs A. Mowat and P. Dick. Notwithstanding the unusually wet season experienced last year, the green played quite up to expectations, maiuly due to the careful attention of the greenkeeper tilr Mitchell), and there -vvas every indication of a great improvement this season. Since closing down, the green had been top-dressed, and is looking very well. Since the closing down of tho bowlI ing season the president (Mr W. Dawson) had generously presented to the club a fullsized billiard table, and full opportunity had been taken by the members to indulge in the pastime, and they felt sure that the introduction of the tabio would go a long way towards the advancement and sociability of "the club. Through the good offices of a I late member (Mr Gordon) a pair of silvermounted bowls was presented to ths club for competition among the members, but owing to the wet season the competition could could not be carried out. Tta club had also received, through the kindness of Mr W. G. Hay, a set of bowls, and Mr Don, a pair of bowls, for the use of visitors. These had been engraved, and placed in the club room for visitors' use. In response to the application for bowls for the use of the inmates of the Pleasant Valley Sanatorium, the club presented a set to the institution. The question of more suitable combination of club colors had been finally decided on, and quite a number of members had provided themselves with the new garments, the general opinion being that the new coats were all that could be desired. The thanks of the club were due to the ladies who from week to week dispensed the welcome cup of tea, to the generous donors of prizes and other gifts, and to the Press for their full reports of all matters pertaining to bowls. In moving the adoption of tho Teport the Chairman said that they hoped for a beticr season for bowls next year. Ho had no doubt that members would be as enthusiastic as in past seasons. He would like to refer to the splendid services of Mr Bills in connection with Wednesday matches. Mr J. Edgar seconded the motion, making special reference to the president's gift of the billiard table. The motion was carried. Before proceeding with the election of office-bearers, the chairman intimated that Mr Dawson did not wish to stand again for the position of president. While he -would always take a lively interest in the affairs of the club, ho thought that the office should be a rolling one. On the motion of 'Mr W. G. Hay, the rules of the club were altered to include the office of patron, and Mr Dawson was unanimously elected to that office. Other elections resulted:—President, Mr ■E. C. Reynolds: vice-presidents, Messrs C. Speight and J. Edgar; treasurer, Mr C. Russell Smith; secretary. Mr W. H." Millin; auditor. Mr E. Cameron: general committee—J. Hamilton, C. Bills, J. R.
