Alluding to a case heard in the local Court the Napier ‘ News ’ says “Mr Lascelles told a story of a person who went to Mr Bamford to register a Native lease that was not properly stamped, and was pulled up standing by the officer blandly remarking, ‘ I want L 270 in fees and fines first!”’ The Rev. Dr R( seby has accepted a call o the. Congregational church at Ballarat* and leaves for there on November 19. He yt 11 preach his last sermon here on the 15 th prox., and will preside at a valedictory meeting two days later.
