THE LAND BOARD.
The ordinary meeting of the Land2Board was held to-day. Present—Messrs Maitland (Chief Commissioner), Bradshaw, Green, Clark, M'Kenzie, and Duncan. C. R. Douglas applied to purchase fifty acres of land in block 8, Maniototo.—Approved, subject to runholder's consent being obtained. The District Land Officer at Naseby submitted an application by Francis Reid to purchase 100 :aores in block 2, Naseby district.—Referred to the District Land Officer for further report. Mr Connell, for J. O'Brien, applied to purchase fifty acres in block 7, Otara.— , Referred to the Chief Surveyor for a rejjort. S. L. Brooks applied to purchase a small portion of land in Otago Peninsula between his property and the road-line.—Referred to the Ranger. - ~.. ... A petition was received from J. Ritches and others asking that the rent pf perpetuallease lands q.t Lauder shoujd be reduced from 2s to Is per ngre. Messrs Cpnnelj, Fyke, and Simpson appeared in support of the petition.^—The Board decided that thoy had no power to comply with the request. Messrs Haggitt Bros, and Brent, instructed by P. M'Gill, forwarded a letter with reference to the land recently decided to be .submitted at auction at Lawrence.tt-. Governtrient to be asked <to delay approval of resolution formerly passed, and Borough CoxtnciJ. to be i*sj;cd wjiat price was obtained by tnem'wWf&lil. '• i. " The Board adjourned until jbo-mbrrow.
