It need hardly be said that there has been little business transacted during the past week. In faet few transactions have taken place. But outside influences have their effect on prices, and notwithstanding the lull in demand there is a tendency upwards in sugar and kerosene. In Melbourne and Sydney a further advance has taken place in kerosene, and it is eagerly bought up at the higher rates, in anticipation of a further rise. Candles have not participated in the movement, but are unchanged. Sugars have taken a positive step upward, but in the absence of transactions in our market we cannot furnish reliable quotations.
