Port Chalmers. IBPIVED. December 29.—D011y Varden, cutter, 20 tons, Williamson, from Chasland's Mistake. December 30. —Crest of the Wave, schooner, 58 tons, M'Lean, from Havelock. Kestrel, ketch, 52 tons, Bern, for Blueskin, put back. SAILED. December 29.—Taiaroa, s.s., 228 tons, Peter-on, for Timaiu. Wagren, schooner, 180 tons, Schwatsch, for Adelaide. Shag, s.s , 31 tons, Wing, for Shag Point and Moeraki. December 30.—Hawea, s.s., 461 tons, Wheeler, for Northern Ports. The cutter Dolly Varden, with a quantity of goods from the steamer Otago, arrived yesterday. Owing to the heavy sea setting in at Chasland's Mistake she wns unable to take on board the anchors and chaius, but completed loading by means of boats, and left on the 26th; had light N.E. winds until next day, when it increased to a gale, and the cutter was hove-to at 3.30 p.m. A heavy sea broke on board, which swept her deck and carried away her boat, and having lost their stock of water and provisions they subsisted on raw potatoes until reaching the Port. Captain WilliaTison reports the wreck still holding on, and the men busily employed in recovering wool and other cargo. Shipping Telegram.
