The Labor Market. Mr Skene reports for the week ending December 23 as follows:—The only demand during the week has _ been for odd hands to fill up vacancies. In reality neither employes nor employers wish to enter into long engagements until the new year, after which prospects are good for' ordinary labor; and we have the certainty of a heavy grain crop. A few suitable couiitry couples are alwnys moving off. There is a vwy large demand for all sorts of fetsale servants, but no great improvement can be noted in the building and iron trades. Prospects are far from bright for clerks iind shopmen. Farm servants of experience are never too plentiful.
