For Greenstone, Mr Hicks (timber merchant) was returned, as were for Cardrona, Mr M'Dougall (storekeeper), and for Shotover, Mr Edgar (miner) The Board as constituted represents the vested interests opposed to taxation. The miners discover too late the mistake of their lethargy. They could have governed the whole elections. They are, however, willing to bear taxation. The question of revenue from depasturing rims going to the County is again demanding attention, and Mr Mnnders will be requested to explain the conduct of the Colonial Government in this matter.
