Auckland, December 22.—At one stage of the inquest ou the murdered man Shanagha i, Curtain (the prisoner) objected to the coroner's clerk taking notes, on the ground that he was prejudiced. Inspector Pardy said it was impossible that the clerk could take wrong evidence. The prisoner thereupon said, "Hold your tongue; mind your own business." Curtain severely cross-examined the widow. When the clerk read one portion oflthe evidence stating that Shauaghan- was a stronger man than Curtain, the latter exclaimed, " It was a fair fight." When the Court adjourned for lunch tne widow made an attempt to get at the prisoner when being taken from the room. She seems out of her senses. The inquest lasted till midnight, when a verdict of wilful murder was returned^
