VOLUNTEER INTELLIGENCE.
No. 1 Company City Guards, with a view of encouraging the younger members of the company, had a rifle-match this morning for six money prizes, confined to those members who had never won a first, second, or third prize. Some of the competitors fired well throughout, and promise to develop into good shots, but others made a sorry exhibition. Corporal Smith was in command, and in firing over the ranges made a very fair total of 50 points out of a possible 60. There were fourteen competitors, and the principal scoreß are subjoined :
Volunteers Hardie, Fail, and Morrison were disqualified in consequence of not having attended sufficient drills during the past two months. On Boxing Day the Company compete for the cup.
