VOLUNTEER INTELLIGENCE.
The Dunedin Artillery paraded for monthly inspection last evening; nresent—Captain Jack, one lieutenant, fouffsergeants, three corporals, and thirty-eight gunners. At the annual meeting, which was held afterwards, Sergeant Kettle was re-elected secretary; Corporal Denniston, treasurer; and the following gentlemen were appointed a managing committee:—Captain Jack, Lieut. Muir, Sergeants Peake, and Fordyce, Gunners Stevenson and Rigg. It was agreed that each member of the winning team in a dismounting competition to take place next month should receive a pewter. The match for Gunner Archer's cup will be fired off on Saturday next. After the usual monthly parade of the West Taieri Rifles on Tuesday evening, at whieh were present one captain, two lieutenants, three sergeants, two corporals, and twenty rank and file, Vol. Robert M'Leod was elected secretary, vice Lieut. Snow, resigning through absence. Two new members of Match Committee were elected, and it was decided that the Volunteers should take part in uniform in the Oddfellows' picnic procession.
COLONIAL PRIZE-FIRING. The Bruce Kifles fired in the final stage this morning at their own range, Lieut. Geo Wilson, .No. 1 Co., in command. The morning was all that could be desired for good shooting, and the sceres are above the average.
