THE SCHOOLS PICNIC.
(Per Star Pigeon Express.) The children’s picnic to-day proved a great suedess, especially considering that the weather up till to-day had been so unfavorable. The morning broke rather dull, but the douda soon .cleared away, and the sun shone bright all the afternoon. Forbury Park was fixed upon as the place of meetlag, and hy one o’clock upwards of 2,000 children from the Normal and four district schools bad assembled near the grand stand. Many of them were accompanied by their teachers and parents and friends, and with the accessions to their number during the afternoon there must have been 3.000 on the ground. There was scarcely a sign of the recent wot weather, the grass on the racecourse and the tan in front of the stand being almost perfectly dry. Games and sror’s all kinds were immediately got up, with an occasional adjournment for refreshment», and old and young went in heartily fpr enjoyment. A Punch and Judy greatly subvened 'the proceedings, varied by musical selections by an esogllent band. A hardworking committee superintended the racing and sports.
