The s.s. Talaroa arrived this morning from .Timaru, and steamed alongside the Elizabeth Graham to discharge wool. She left Port Chalmers on the evening of the 12th j arrived at Timaru at 4.30 a.m. on the 13th, bnt, owing to the heavy surf, could not land passengers or cargo until next day; took on board, besides other cargo, 175 bales of wool for the Elizabeth Graham, and 136 bales for and left at 7;SO p.m., arriving as AEEIYAL OP THE SHIP OAMAEU PEOM GLASGOW. The ship On mam, with 873 passengers from Glasgow, was signalled at the Heads this morning and towed np the harbor ns far as the Quarantine Ground, where she came to anchor, having sickness on board. The Health Officer (Captain Thomson) and Dr Drysdale (medical member o! the local Board of Health) proceeded alongside in the Customs steam launch, and finding, after the usual questions had been answered, that there was stiff sickness on board, they ordered tee yellow flag to Be hoisted. We are indebted to Capt. Thomson for tee following information respecting tee numher of passengers and their sanitary condition During the voyage four deaths have occurred—two from measles, one from diarrhoea, and one from infantile exhaustion. There sire now on board one case of enteric fever, five cases of measles (all convaleaeent),'one ofdiarrboea, and: one of «><»-»<» : There have been thirty-one cases of measles during tee passage, tee last having occurred on December 8, and two cases of enteric fever. The whole of the compartments and clothing have been thoroughly .disinfected, •
