There was another “sceue”at the Lawrence Town Council's meeting fest week. It arose through Cr. Hears being called to order for digressing*, when a short dialogic which is thus reported by the ‘Times,’ took place“ Cr, Hears: When rising to a point of order, you might address people courteously, and not speak as though you were talking to a dog. tr. Meara then called the attention of the councillors to the manner in which the Mayor addressed him. The Mayor: You must address your remarks to the chair. Please to sit down.—Cr. Hears : I must confess that you take a great deal upon yourself.—The Mayor: When I rise you must sit down. When I sit down you can get up. If you will confine yourself to the subject under discussion I will hear you. —Cr. Harrop here interposed, and succeeded m obtaining an armistice.-Cr. Hears sub* sided after getting the last word,”
