ELECTION AT ST. KILDA.

The polling for a member to represent Musselburgh Ward in the St. Kilda Council took place to day at the Musselburgh rail- - station. The candidates were Messrs William Eagar, R. Mitchell, and Alexander Day. The Town Clerk of the Municipality was in attendance to receive the voting. Mr Day having retired in favor of Mr Mitchell, the issue was left between Messrs Eagar and Mitchell. There are 53 ratepayers on the roll, and of these 35 voted. The voting was declared in the St. Kilda Council Chambers by Mr Todd, the Clerk, to be as follows :—22 for Mitchell, 13 for Eager, showing a majority for Mitchell of 9 votes. The Mayor (Mr P. Jones) presided at the declaration.
