CITY POLICE COURT.
Saturday, December 9,
(Before his Worship the Mayor and J, Logan, Esq., J.P.’s.)
Disorderly Conduct. David Buchan was charged with being drunk and disorderly in Princes street this morning at two o’clock. —The evidtnee showed that accused was making a great noise at the door of the Spanish Restaurant, and was impudent to the constable. Accused admitted having a little drink, but said he was by no means drunk, and if the policeman had assisted him to get into the house, where he was a boarder, he (accused) need not have been in the Court at all —The Bench admonished Buchan to be a little less boisterous next time he was locked out, and dismissed the case.
Theft.— George Crossan pleaded guilty to an accusation of having stolen a whip, value 20s,' the property of Henry Scott.—The prosecutor stated that Crossan was an excellent groom, and was a good servant excepting when he took a drinking fit, which occurred about every two months, when he became very violent and insulting. He had often discharged the accused from his service, but as often took him on again, on account of his abilities as groom.—The Beach, addressing prisoner, said it was a fortunate thing for him that Mr Scott had given him a tolerably good character. This affair should be a warning to him to abstain from drink. —Prisoner w»s sentenced to forty-eight hours’ imprisonment. Maintenance —Louis de Bnisson, charged on remand with disobeying an order of the Court requiring him to contribute to the maintenance of his family, was discharged.
