ST. JOSEPH'S CHURCH.

On Monday evening a concert will be given in St. Joseph's. The 'Tablet' tells ns that the object in aid of which the festival has been undertaken is that of liquidating the debt incurred by the recent improvements. The church has been enlarged td a considerable extent by the removal of the old organ-loft and the construction of a gallery, and the organ has not only been removed to the side of the building and re-erected in a recess specially designed for the accommodation of the choir, but it has likewise been set up, renovated, and thoroughly improved. The cost of these various alterations has amounted to a large stun. In fact, about L 450 have been expended, while as yet not'quite L2OO have Been subscribed. The alterations were carried out, the building previously being too small. The programme will comprise selections from Handel, Haydn, Weber, Mendelsohn, and Rossini, by a number of leading vocalists, under the conductorship of Mr C. Sykes. There will be no religious ceremony whatever on the occasion.
