CRICKET.
Saturday was a busy day with town cricketers. On the Oval, the premier dab bad a between tforth and South, which resulted in a victory for the South by 19 runs, the respective Korea luriw. 79 and 60. For the South, Clark played a uioeu* nines of 41, and W. Morrison made a dozen; forth# North, Dixon contributed 16, Bonch 11, and Back 10. The Citizens played a scratch match. Love's side making 64, to 55 by the eleven chosen by Stokes. At North Dunedin, the Albums tried conclusions with the University eleven, and sustained a defeat, they obtaining only 53 rocs to their opponents’ 69. For the University, Kneen made 29 and Montgomery 14. Barrow, with 11, was the only one of the Albions who got into double figures. At Meintecillo the Brewers met the Oarisbrooks, and were beaten by 20 runs. The Brewers made only 30, of which number Anderson contributed 16; while Garisbrook scored 50, T. Austin being credited with lo* _ The Balclutha team tried conclusions with the Bruce eleven at Milton on Saturday. The Balcluthaites went to the wickets first, and were disposed of for 37. The Tokomoiriro men totted np 68, and as there was not sufficient time to complete thO' match, the game was decided by the first innings in favor of Tokomairiro. Moore, who has n fine delivery, bowled well for Balclutha in the second innings; but in the first was very unfortunate. A couple of carrier pigeons, which were despatched by ns to the play-ground, did not reach town till a few minutes after our country edition had gone to press. Subjoined are the scores:—
