Ponies.-lst. Mr Tewsley; 2nd, Andrew Bin. Trotting horse.—Sbale—Mr Liasiman. The dinner was held in Kane’s Hotel about sixty gentlemen sitting down to an excellent repast, served up in the host’s best style. The chair was occupied by Mr Geo. Pram, and the vice-chair by Mr Reid, President, in proposing The Taxen Agricultural Show,” said that many present had known it from its infancy, and could congratulate it on the success that always attended it, financially and other* wise. They could now hold their own against any ether society in the Colony, and he was proud to be able to say that all they had ever promised they had faithfully performed.—Mr Aitken, who was termed th« parent of the society, reviewed the past of the society, and showed that every year it had advanced in a most gratifying manner.— The Vice-Chairman, in giving “The Agricultural and Pastoral Interests of the Province,” said he hoped to see the day when the pl**r» would not only grow ten times the gram it did at present, but would support ten times the population. Be briefly alluded to the necessity of a society, to discuss the different subjects of agriculture being formed, and hoped that the day would not be far distant when they might see it established.—Messrs Charteris and Mr W, Jeffrey replied. The other toasts were “The Army, Haw., and Volunteers,” “ The Ladies,’’ and The Press.” It will give a good idea of the number who visited tue Show, when it is stated that L 64 Os 2d was taken at the gates, being the largest amount ever taken in the district. The Show itself was a great success, the exhibits of stock being fully up to the average and in many eases exceeding it. * {For continuation » «ee fourth JPaye
