THE VOLUNTEERS.
The final competition for places to represent the North Dunedin Eifles in the forthcoming match for the Ladies Shield took place this morning at their range, Pelichet Bay. The morning was very dull, and at 200 and 400 yards the target was at times nearly invisible through the haze. The ranges ware 200, 400 and 500 yards; new wimbledon targets; seven shots at each range, standing at 200 yards. Below we five the scores of the five representatives for hield honors. The highest scorer' this morning was Vol. Morgan, with the brilliant total of 83—thus made at 200 yards, 18; at 400 yards, 35, this being a possible ; and 30 at 500. Corpl. Eichardson stands next with
1181 Each Volunteer in the' above competitions fired sixty-seven shots, which shows an average result per man of 3 176-335, or nearly centres throughout the whole scores of competitions.
