INTERPROVINCIAL CRICKET MATCH.

" Longstop " in the ' Lyttelton Times ' writes that—"The question of whether or no the Otago cricketers will put in an ap Searance this season, was the subject of a great eal of conversation on the ground, on Saturday last. The reason assigned by the Dunedinites for omitting the match this season, if I am correctly informed, is not from shortness of fund, or any desire to give up the annual contest, but that they cannot get the men for both matches. If such be the case, and I see no reason to doubt it, would it not be as well to agree to the proposal, upon a distinct understanding, that the Dunedin men come up next year ? The matches are now even, and it would be more to our credit to win the conqueror, when all things are favorable for our opponents to bring up their strongest team, than if we compelled them either to send up a weak one, or discontinue the matches altogether. Plenty can be said on the opposite side, but as they have done so, let us meet them amicably, and agree to the terms. The selection Committee met on Saturday and chose the following twenty-five men to go into practice for the All-England match : -Messrs Ashby, Alpe, Allington, Baker, Corfe, Dixon, D'Emden, Fuller, J. Fowler, W. Frith, C. Frith, M. Godby, Izard, leach, Moore, Neilson, Ollivisr, Palmer, C. Perry, Reeder. Sweet, Stevens, Sampson, Watson, and Wood.
