A. fair amount of business has been done during the week. There have been two arrivals of sugar, viz., the Formosa and the Countess of Errol, both from Mauritius, which, with stocks already on hand, makes the supply rather full. New season's teas have been moving off freely. We learn that the'quality of the new tea to hand is fully equal to last season's, and gives satisfaction to the trade. Hennessy's brandy we quote 8i 6d to 8s 9d: case, 83s to 33s 6d; other brands have advanced in proportion. Currants remain firm at ssd. Salmon (21b tins) h&s been sold at 16s; lib tins are in few hands, and held from 10g to 10s 6d; sardines, Albert's quarter, 5s 3d; halves, 8s8d; lobsters, Bs 6d t Dunn's fresh herrings, Ta 3d. Tbe Labor Market. Mr Skene reports that the sudden break in the weather has i»ut a fall stop to all out-door work. The demand has been steady for work-people of most sorts, especially for farm, station, road, rail, and bash, and people suited for |such can count on steady employment. Couples moving off very slowly. Female servants continue scarce. The building and skilled trades of all sorts would admit of more activity. Shopmen and clerks are seldom wanted.
