DUNEDIN SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The prinoipal business discussed at the Committee's regular meeting last night, which was attended by Messrs Street, Ramsay, Sherwin, and Livingston, was the following : In reference to the Middle School, Mr Barrett the headmaster, intimated that ho had communicated with the Commissioner of Police, respecting acts of larrikinism.— It was decided that the Committee should wait upon the Commissioner of Customs in regard to the delay in erecting the new Middle School.
The Education Board intimated: (1.) The appointment of Miss Nelly Coull as pupil teacher at the South School j (2) that the Government decline to insure the school buildings, as there was no vote for the purpose, and (3) declining to build a janitor's house m connection with the Middle School, but offering the use of one at present.on the scheol grounds, York Place, if the Committee would bear the cost of removing and re-erecting it. Mr Joel, president of the Jewish congregation, wrote pointing out that by choosing Saturday, December 16, for the pic-nic in connection with the schools, the Jewish scholardlwould be prevented from attendance. The Board fixed the breakißg up for Wednesday, December 12, and the pic-nic for the following Friday.
