CAVERSHAM ROAD BOARD.

At the Board’s ordi’iary meeting last night there were present—Messrs Rutherford (in the chair), Jackson, Bridgman, ITBen, and Wilson. Mr Wilson reported, on behalf of the Water Simply Committee, that they bad visited various springs and creeks in the neighborhood, and concluded that if all the . water obtainable in the place was gathered into a reservoir there would be a sufficient supply for the whole district.—A letter was read from Quin, complaining of water flowing'from the : M»in South Road on to the Benevolent Institution grounds, in consequence of a footpath lately formed. The Inspector was instructed to see tbit and get it put right.—The following letter was read from the Town Clerk of South Dunedin : “ I have the honor to acknowledge receipt of your letter of 20th inst., and to inform you that it was read at a meeting of the Council held last evening, when the Mayor expressed bis satisfaction and pleasure to hear that the reports slluded to by him on the occasion of his tendering his resignation, and referred to by yon in your letter, were contradieted and untrue. lam directed by the Council to communicate to you the acceptance of the denial by the Caversham Boad Board, and at the same time to express the Council's regret .that /undue importance should have been given' to reports which now appear unfounded.*’—Mr Broderick wrote offering about two acres of land surrounding the Board’s present quarry. Messrs Butherford and Bridgman were appointed to see Mr Broderick in reference to it.—A letter was received from.the Moixington Boad Board, asking LSO tdtrerdgdha formation of the Glen road, when it was agrebd' to give that sum on condition that the Momington Board make the road and afterwards hand it over in good condition to this Board.—Thetlnspector was authorised to proceed with the laying of pipes in Park street and Cross street, Kensington, and also to put up two public wells at Kensington; and the clerk to write Mr Cairns to send the metal premised for the new street formed at the railway station.
