The amount of revenue received at the Custom, house on goods cleared fer consumption this day was L 1,143 6s 10d.
~T l ?irr e waa a largo attendance of speculators at Mr H-mry Driver’s sale of City properties to-day. The nuexpired lease for nineteen years of the Church land between the Dunedin Savings Bank and Messrs Snxgood’s premises was offered, and passed in at L 3 OQO. the highest bid being L 2.900, The leases of the Royal George Hotel and four adjoining shops in George street were sold to Mr A. S. Hay for L 5,500.
Mr Henry Driver (on behalf of the N.Z.L. and M.A. Co.) reports for the; week ending November 14,1876, as follows
Pat Cattle.—l 46 head were yarded, chiefly of good quality, and all found buyers at !a little below last week’s quotations. Bullocks brought Ll2 to Ll6 10s j cows, LBlos to Ll4. A few pens of prime and heavy-weight bullocks realised as high as LlB to L2l each. Wo quote best quality beef at 35s per 100 lbs. At the yards we sold 30 head, and privately 150 head. *
Fat Calves.—2o were penned, really good vealers. and all sold at from 30s to 755.
Fat Sheep.—About 2,000 were penned, mostly good cross breds, which sold, in the wool, at 14a to 18s 6d; shorn, 9s to 14a, or equal to 3sd per lb for former, aud 2Jd per lb for latter. We sold 300 at the yards and 400 privately. Fat Lambs,—Only a few forward, which found buyers at from 9s 6d to 14s 6d. Wa have sold—at the yards and privately—2oo. Store Cattle.—An active demand still continues for well grown quiet cattle of all descriptions.' On Monday last we sold at Mosgiel, on account of James Wright, Esq., 200 head bullocks and cows the forme: up to L 8 12s 6d, and latter, L 6 ss; and on Tuesday, at Palmerston, we sold on account of J. F. Kitching, Esq., 4CO head bullocks, up to L 9 sscows, LG. We have sold 150 head privately. We quote bullocks at from L6los io L 9 ss, according to size and quality j and cows at L4loa to L 6 6s,
Store Sheep.—We have no transactions to report. Wool.—We are still without advices respecting the London sales now in progr ss. First instalments of the new clip from the early shearing sheds are coming to hand. So far as we have yet been able to judge, the clip of this season will bo in flue condition tor length and s'rengtb of staple. Sheepskins. -Our usual weekly auction took place this afternoon. Fullrates we e oMai-f d, butchers’ oroBS-brcds realising up to 5s Id: d.y skins, 4s to 4s 9d; merinos, 3s lOd. * Hides realised last week’s rates.
Tallow.—We snhi .several parcels of tallow. Inferior brought 20s to 25s 6d: medium, 26s to 29s 6d, Brisk demand.
