NEW PRIMITIVE METHODIST CHURCH.
On Sunday last the Primitive Methodists opened their first church in this circuit. The site, chosen is at the junction of the OargiU and Forhnry roads, Kew. The church has not long been in course of erection, for it is not, large; it is, however, and well-finished. The opening sermons were preached on Sunday to crowded and appreciative congregations, and on Monday the usual soiree came off. As 6 Church was more convenient, the committee of that church kindly lent it in which to hold the soiree, and it 3 ,i none kfS 6 * f° r the building was filled. The evening meeting was presided overby the Rev, Mr Ward, and addressed ?y>ev. Mr Russell, Messrs Fraser, Ings. ? en ’ -Dh&i Clarke, H. Ward, Johnstone, and others, The speeches were witty, earnest, and telling, and the anthems sung by the Dunedin Primitive Methodist Choir were rendered with taste, securing much applause. The church was built by Mr U’Ren. Its cost has been almost entirely raised, and it is resolved to collect at once the balance, so that the building may be said to be opened free from debt. Last evening the Sunday School children had a treat given them. The heavy showers prevented the young folk from enjoylll # themselves as much as they otherwise would have done ; still they had a geod tame.
