A LADY If. 9in. HIGH.
This is what the «New York Sun' says of a female dwarf half the size of Tom Thumb : A large number of physicians went to Tony Pastor's Theatre lately to see the Mexican dwarf, Lucia Zarate. Her mother, whp is robust and of medium size, says that Lucia is twelve years old. Her face is older than that. Her features are Spanish, and her complexion dark. Ber activity is incessant. She played pranks with the physicians and talked fast in Spanish. she stepped into a high silk hat, crouched down, and was out of sight excepting her head. She squeezed one of her pliable little hands through a rather large finger ring. The hand of an adult made an ample seat for her. Standing on a chair, and holding to the back of it, her fingers stuck through the spaces in the canework—holes that just admitted the passage of a small penholder. She was hot weighed, but her weight is said to be 51b, and, poised in the hand, she does not seem heavier. Her clothing is comically smallj, as though intended for a doll, the shoes and Stockings especially being toy like. She is getting her second teeth ; and although the doctors could not tell whether or not she was twelve years old, as claimed, they said she had teeth which she could paot have under six years of age. She ran ab<?ut, shook hands with, and talked a little to those present. She is now smaller than are many infants at the time of their birth. The following measurements were taken : Height with shoes on, 21£ inches ; length of leg from hip, 10J inches; around inches ; circumference of thiph, 4f inches; circumference of ..caif of leg, 4 inches (one inch more than »T man's thumb) ; length of shoe, 3 inches ; width of shoe, \\ inches. The parents of the child arc with her, and are of the usual size : the mother is about the medium height; the father, 5 feet sor 6 inches in height, and quite fleshy.
