Samson, from Oamaru, with passengers and cargo, arrived at Port Chalmers on Saturday. The b.s. Wanganui, from the Bluff, with passengers and cargo, arrived at Port Chalmers at 8.30 a<m. yesterday. She left Bluff Harbor at 5.3D p.m. on Saturday; experienced strong westerly winds, and reached the Port as above. The s.s. Wellington arrived at Port Chalmers at 6.10 p.m. yesterday, with cargo and passengers from Northern ports. She left the Monukau on the 7th inat. at 1 p.m.; called at Taranaki, Nelson, Picton, Wellington, end Lyttelton ; left the latter port on Saturday at 2 p.m., and arrived as above. She left that port on the lOtl October, and carried the S.E. trades to lat. 33 S. oi the, 14th, when they gave out; thence she had strong gales from N.W. to N.E.; passed the meridian e: !ape Leuwin on October 27, and made the Snare! on the Bth instant; thence along tho coas she experienced strong N.N.E. winds, anc made Taiaroa Heads at 4 p.m. on Saturday, havinf completed the passage from Port Louis to Otago ii thirty-one days; alter weathering the Heads, sh* encountered a strong B.W. gale, and was forced t< anchor outside for the night, being towed up to thi anchorage off Grassy Point yeiterday morning b; the tag Geelong. Captain Quayle reports tho three • masted schooner Countess of Eirol, with 300 tons o sugar for Messrs Cat gill, Gibbs, ana Co., of Dune din, loaded and ready to sail six hours after th departure of the Formosa for this port.
