WASTE LAND BOARD.
The usual weekly meeting of the Board was held on Nov. 8 ; present—Messrs Strode (in the chair), Reid, Clarke, and Butterworth.
Mr Wm. Brown, on behalf of Wm. Telford, applied to be allowed to purchase half of section 1, block 26, Clutha district. Referred to the Ranger for report. Mr Wm. Brown, on behalf of Wm. Telford and John Shaw, applied to be allowed to purchase sections 1 and 2, block 22, Clutha district.—Referred to the Ranger for report.
Messrs Leary and Grant, for Mr Thomas Orr, applied for a run of 5,000 acres at Martins Bay District, under section 154 VYaste Lands Act. Mr Manders, by permission of the Board, stated that Dr Hector had described the land as valuable.— The application was declined ; the land to be assessed and sold by auction under the usual conditions.
The District Land Officer at Naseby forwarded for approval valuation of improvements made by Mr John Deem on part of section 51, Waihemo District. —The valuation was approved. The Government recommended the Board lo accept the offer of Mr James Smith to s irrender part of run 106— i.e, , over section 6, block 9, and section 20, block 7 —also, 3,500 acres over block 1, Waitahuna west, on condition that the lands are opened for application at 20s per acre.—Referred to Chief Surveyor, requesting him to state the quality of the land referred to. Mr H. Manders, on behalf of Mr M. J. Malaghan, applied to be allowed to purchase section 29, block 7, Queenstown.—lt was decided that the land should be sold by auction, a valuation for improvements to be made by the District Land Officer, and an upset price recommended by him. Mr Jas. G. Glassford applied to purchase under agricultural lease section 1, block 2, and section 4, block 7, Lauder, - Approved.
