The Education Board meets on Thursday week. The American War Panorama was well patronised last evening, aud the various historical and other pictures were ably commented on by Mr O'Brien. The performance at tho Princess Theatre last night was a decided improvement on the previous representation. "Afloat and Ashore" will be reproduced to-night, and Mr Dampier will take, as before, the part of Hal Oakford. A .number of gentlemen met last evening at the Provincial Hotel, Port Chalmers, for tbepurpoße of considering the advisability of holding a regatta at Port Chalmers. After discussion, it was resolved that a committee, consisting of his Worship the Mayor, Messrs Sinclair, Mills, andMackley, Confer with the Dunedm Rowing Clubs, and biing up a report next Tuesday evening. At the Police Court this morning, before Captain Baldwin, R.M., Elisabeth Brown, charged with drunkenness, was let off with a caution, and Samuel Gill was fined ss. A charge against Isabella White, of having no lawful means of support, was dismissed. The consideration of an application to have 7 e children of John Edwards admitted into the Industrial School, on account of his dissolute habits, was deferred. At the Port Chalmers Police Court this morning three seamen, named Donald Fraser, Alexander Stewart, and William Gunn, belonging to the ship Timaru, were charged with being absent without leave on the 7th inst. After hearing the evidence of Captain Taylor, who stated he only wished it to act as a caution to the men, the Bench ordered them on board, and to forfeit two v-j 8 ' iP* y for each twent y-f©ur hours they had been absent from the ship. Dr O'Donoghne and Mr W. Elder, J.P.'s, presided. r
