f. X«tfe:4y_the; Jtorth Dunedin Eifles competed -for BM T.' Id. Hutchinson's trophy (value L 10), aud also the second competition for places lor representatives for the Ladies' Shield. The conditions for Mr Hutchinson's prize are that it is to he won three times, two of must be in succession before becoming the property of any one Volunteer. The ranges are-200, 500, and 600 yds • •Wimbledon targets, standing at 200 yds.:; five shots at each ; one sighting shot allowed. The morning was a, very bad one for tall scores; it was blowing .a perfect gale and very gusty, rendering good shooting very difficult; nevertheless some very creditable scores were put together. Nineteen men competed, and below we append the scores of the ten highest :—>

The three highest scores for the Ladieß' Shield in this company up to the present are—Lieut. Pell, vol. Cowie, and Lieut. Pollock. Three moro competitions are yet to be held. The next will take puce on this day week.
