AMUSEMENTS.
Simonsen * Opera Company gave their farewell performance on Saturday night, to one of the best audiences of the season. "La Fille de Madame Ansrot" was reproduced, and the ad rent urea of • Olairett* iind the other characters afforded, if possible, more amusement than on previous occasions. The company intend to play for a short season at Invercorgill hefere proceeding to Melbourne. A large audience assembled at the Princess's Theatre on S.ilurday evening. The play was " Afloat aud Ashore," and in it Mr Dampier gave proof of his great versatility. He was all that could be desired as the manly and frank sailor; and, had all the other members of the company been up to their work, a hotter effect would have been produced. Mr Steele played with earnestness and vigor, and shone all the more by reason of the carelessness of some o"f the other characters. Mr Bryan created much fun by his make-up as the soldier in the farce. The " Courier of Lyons" is announced for to-night. .>
