Farquhar, M'Neill, Austin, Blyth, au<i Councillors Roberts and Fish, waited on the Mayor this afternoon with reference to the works now being earned on in Stafford and Maitland streets. The deputation pointed out that as Stafford street was the chief outlet to Morning ton, Eglinton, and other southern suburban towuslhps it would bo desirable to improve the grade by making a deeper cutting at and near Maitland street and thence to Hope street, and at the same time it was urged, that by *> ducing High street between Maitland street and Grant street all the streets in the block would be considerably improved. The Mayor, the City Engineer, and several of the deputation then personally inspected the locality of the proposed improvements, and his Worship promised to have a report thereon furnished by the Surveyor to the next meeting of Council.
