Drunkenness.—William Insley and John Shaw were discharged with a caution. Wife Desebtion.—George Stokes, apprehended at Timaru on warraut, was charged with deserting his wife and five children at Dnnedin on September 22. Prisoner was remanded till the following day. Soliciting Alms.—William Oarr, who appeared to have been drinking heavily, was charged with seliciting alms in Frederick street.—Constable Green stated that accused went into a nnmber of hotels, got supplied with drinks, and left without paying for them.—-Inspector Mallard suggested that prisoner should he detained in custody for a week to enable him to recover himself.—The Bench agreed that this would be the best course to adopt, and accused was remanded accordingly. >
