AN UNPLEASANT NEIGHBOR. | We are informed th;vu the south end of Maitland street was from mid-day yesterday till daylight this morning, the sceue of considerable excitement. The landlord of a house there unwittingly let it to a woman whom, for reasons that subsequently came to his knowledge, he desired to eject, and he placed a bailiff in possession. The woman, in revenge, smashed the window, and, procuring some kerosene from a neighboring store, sprinkled it over parts of the house and adjoining fence. At 11 p.m. she deliberately set house on fire iu an upstairs room, but a neighbor saw the flames coming out of the window, and with considerable difficulty they were extinguished. The woman returned during the night and behaved in a most violent manner. From two o'clock the constable on the beat kept a strict watch over the neighborhood till daybreak.
