The amount of revenue received at the Customhouse on sroods cleared tor oonsumptioa this day wb#_LK7 1*194. Messrs M'Landress, Hepburn, and Co. this afternoon sold by auction some freehold property in Turk place. There was a large attendance, and Hie sections, which averaged about an eighth of an aero apiece, realised the following prioes:—No. 1, L 267 lOn; 2 and S, L 260 each; 4 and 5, Lt4s eaeh. THE LABOR MABKET. Mr Skene reports there is plenty of work now offering in every direction, for men and women who are really anxious to work. Couples are the only exception. Experienced storemen and book-keepers are mote asked for. Shearers are wanted, but there is no figure fixed yet. Dairy people are well employed. Wages : House girls, 10s, 12s, and 15s; hotel do., 12c, 15s, and 20s; 26s to (80s for superior do. for hotels: day labor, road, rail, bush, *c, 8s and 9s; dairy hands, 15s to 255; couples, L 45 to L 75 : ploughmen, L 52 to LtiO ; shepherds, L6O, ~L6b, and L7O: carpenters, 10s to ISs; boys and girls, 6s to 16s; boots, 15s to 20s; cooks, grooms, gardeners, waiters, 4c., 25b to 50s.
