CITY POLICE COURT

Friday, October 6. (Before H. S. Eish, Esq., and Dr. Niven, J.P.’s.) Drunkenness. —Peter Chalmers and Jas. Smith were each fined 10s; in default, 48 hours’ imprisonment. Forgery.— David M'Kechnie, alias John M'Fadyen, was charged on the information of Michael M'Grath with having on September 25 forged a cheque for the payment of L2 18s. Prisoner having only been apprehended at a late hour last night by Detective Bain, application for a remand till Monday was made by Inspector Mallard. Prisoner wished to plead guilty, but it was pointed out that, being a felony, the case could not be dealt with summarily.—The remand was granted. Unregistered Dog. —David Froudfoot was charged by Ranger Youugman with keeping an unregistered dog in his possession. As defendant did not appear, he was fined in the minimum penalty of 40s.
