Lyttelton, September 26. At the meeting of the Regatta Committee, for 1876, held last evening, it was resolved that the following should be the prizes for the three principal events in the Regatta : - Champion Sailing Race, for vessels under 150 tons, prize prize, L 100; second, LlO. Champion Yacht Race, first prize, L 75 and silver cup. Interprovincial Champion Race, in four-oared racing whaleboats, tirst prize, LSO. These races are to be open to all comers.

Christchurch, September 27. The East Christchurch School Committee formally protested against the action of the Government in levying a rate of elevenpence in the pound for school building purposes. The billiard match last night was won by Gollop by 241 points. His play throughout was splendid, while that of Roberts was indifferent, The latter had been rabbit shooting. Roberts’s biggest break was 102 ; Gollop’s 45. The gnne occupied Ihr. 42min Roberts afterwards played five games of pyramids with his agent, giving him four balls. The champion won three games and Cole two. Roberta plays Weston to-night, giving him 550 points. Weston played Gollop 500 up for 1/25, and won easily in Ihr. 25tniu. Weston was in grand form.

A new Presbyterian Church is to bo built at a cost of LS,OOO.

Westport, September 27. In the operations on the s.s, Mautau yesterday the propeller was broken, and will need landing before the vesiel can be floated. She is so far in the water as to float fore and aft at high tide ; but the weight of the engines amidships prevents her floating there.
