They, confidently believe, and are assured by many of the'principal mercantile firmß in Melbourne and tfew Zealand, that an important expansion of the traffic will certainly follow the commencement of the Company's operations. ; unc moi a.Tipuunufcrs m ureal Jintain, of steamers best suited for the trade with New S Zealand, New Caledonia, the Fiji Islands, etc. J steimers may be briefly described as | vessels of large- capacity on such a draft of water as" wiUrenable them to take their cargoes I to and from the wharves, with accommodation for about 200 first and second class passengers and steaming fully 12 knots an hour, with the latest improved compound engines for economising fuel and space. . The promoters have great confidence in placing^i;he s present enterprise before .the public, .based on the marked cuccess of the large and increasing, number of steamere trading on our coasts, there being now registered as belonging to the Fort of Melbourne >ixty.one steam vessels V.f a U descriptions, which hav« grown out of the earnings of twelve steamers of all sorts belonging to the port in 1853, and the increase of vessels employed in the New Zealaod trade is perhapa more marked than any other. It is desired further to direct attention fo the following facts, tending to the advantage of the project, viz. :-The stimulus to trade by the established telegraphic communication between the two countries. The greater fa'ililies for development of the large grainproducing interest, manifest in the growing trade of Oamaru and Timnru. as well as the more s mthern parts of the Middle Island, for winch produce Victoria can rind a permanent market. The prospect of an ea>ly r vision of the Victorian Tariff in the interests of tr-de and commerce. The cursive i>roperti«s of the ftot Springs of New Zealand as tending to promote an increase of visitors in quest of health. And the large number of uteamers and passenger ships from furor e, India, Chin-, and America having their termini io Austra' ban ports, carrying an increasing number of passengers for or from New Zealand. All which growing interests will tend to the advantage of the new Company. Following the plan of late adopted in England by recently-formed Shipping Companies it is proposed th*t the business shail be managed in Melbourne as an agency, under the control of the Directory, thus avoiding the outlay for a large and costly establishment _ Gentlemen have lately visited New Zealand m the interests of the proposed Company 1 hey met with a most cordial reception received numerous subscriptions and promises of support among many sections of the community. In fact, New Zealand and Melbourne interests are thus so extensively enlisted in the Company, as shareholders and otherwise, that the New Line of Steamers cannot fail to obtain that am*.le support which wiil render the enterprise a success. # In conclusion, the promoters would invite intending investors t» make prompt applications for shares, t,> enabl* th<-m to contract for the building of the new ships while the oo«t of construction rules low M at the preee, t time I here are no special advantages offered to any shareholders, and therefore no promoter,' interests to b* paid.
