(. hristchukoh, September 13. A man named Chabs committed suicide last night, cutting his throat. He died this morning. Causes—poverty, and want of employment. A fire broke out at midnight in the shop of Barsht, tailor, but it was soon extinguished. The drapery stock was a good deal injured by smoke and water. The insurances are light. It has been decided to let the Skating Rink stand over till April next. A slight shock of earthquake was felt here yesterday.
Wellington, September 14. Haughton was brought up this morning, the Court being held with closed doors. He va" committed for trial at the next criminal sittings of the Supreme Court. No bail was asked for.
