WASTE LANDS BOARD.

The usual weekly meeting of the Board was held to-day; present —the DeputyCommissioner (in the chair), Messrs Clarke, and Entterworth.

'Mr James Logan applied to purchase east part section 7, block 0, Chatton district, and to purchase or lease section 14, block 9, Chatton, and 26, block 1, Glankcuich district, temporarily reserved for coal.—Referred to Ranger for report as to whether the lands referred to should be dealt with in any way. Mr D. Reid applied, ou behalf of Messrs Samuel O'Kane-and John Lawson, that the lease of the saw-mill area (HO acres) at Waipori, lately agreed to be transferred to dm said Samuel O'Kano be issued in the name of the said John Lawson. —Adjourned for further consideration ; no appearance of applicant.

The matter of refund of deposit paid on section 21, block 5, North Glenkemch district, to Mr John Anderson, was re-con-sidered, and the former decision upheld. Mr William Moffatt, of Otakia, requested the Board to refund deposit paid by him on deferred payment section 11, block 10, Waipahee district, as he is unable from illhealth to occupy and cultivate the land in terms of the Act. —Board unable to comply with the reauest.

Messrs Bussell and Ritchie, on behalf of Mr C. Thomson, requested the Beard to alter conditions of sale of lease of run No. 465, Matukituki.—The Board decided that the upset rental be reduced to one farthing an acre.

The District Land Officer, Queenstown, forwarded a letter from Mr H. J. Finn, on behalf of Donald Stewart, requesting the Board to cancel his interim certificate and refund half-year’s occupation fee, viz., L 46 13s 4d.—Refused.

Messrs Webber, Moore, Newmarch, and Brenner re-applied that the fees paid by them for the survey of their respective areas in ’ Naseby township be refunded to them.—Refused.

An application by William Paley, for a grazing lease of that remaining part of section 24, block 3, Chatton district, was refused ; the Board considering ,it inadvisable to deal with it at present. The applications by Messrs Hanlon, Kelcher, and others, to purchase land under agricultural lease in Leaning Rock District, Wai-keri-keri Valley, came up for re consideratien. The matter was further adjourned for a fortnight. Messrs Connell andMoodie, for Mr James Smith, re-applied to purchase sections 114 and 115, block 1, Waitahuna West District. Referred to D L.O. for report. The Government forwarded plan of Township of Craigleith, with upset prices of sections, for approval of Board.
