Fish’s motion, “That provided it can bo legally done, tho concession asked for by tho memorialists should bo granted, and that tho matter bo referred to the .Reserves r ommittee, to obtain the opinion of tho Corporation s solicitor, and to report to the Council,” was carried. THE FEVER HOSPITAL. On the adoption of tho Sanitary Committee’s report being moved, Cr. Fish opposed the clause which recommended that the Corporation should defend the suit commenced by certain citizens relative to the Fever Hospital. if it were not struck out it would be useless for him to proceed with the resolutions of which he had given notice. Ur. Mollisoh said if a plebiscite of tho citizens were taken, there would be two in favor of the retention of the hospital for every one against it. The hospital was erected for the benefit of the inhabitants of the City.

Cr. W oodlaxd remarked that so long as they had the hospital ou the Belt they would have fever in the City. Cr. i ampbell had no objection to the hospital being removed, but he did not think that such .-hould be done at present The Mayor’s views in regard to the Fever Hospital had undergone a change, and he now saw that it was of great utility to t£e bulk of the people of i nutdm. For tho one person who was in favor of the removal of ihe hospital, there were ten who desired its v xistence. Those most interested in the matter were persons in the humbler walks of life, who had not the means of Isolating cases of fever on their breaking out in small houses A case in point came before the Sanitary Committee at its last meeting. if it had not been for tho hospital, the probability was that there would not have been a single public school open at the present time. In view of the possibility of an outbreak of small pox it behoved the Council to consider if it should not insist upou retaining the hospital. The amendment proposed by Or. Fish was put and lost, the mover and Mcsmts Gibson and Woodland voting in lavor of it. The report was then adopted. Or. F IBE, having been appointed a member of the anitary Committee said he would watch that depsrtmci t with a view of hi ding out any fl ws which may exist in it, and he thought he would succeed in discovering some. ROYAL TERRACE. On the motion or Cr. Woodland, it was resolved, by three to two, that temiera ■■should be call' d for the above work, provided thattheoonsentof the property-holdo a ho obtained to allow of the embankment* being sloped on their ground. In the discussion that took place, it transpired that t e work would cost 1/4,750. Cr.
