DUNEDIN POULTRY ASSOCIATION.
The fourth annual show of thiß Association was opened in the Drill Shed this afternoon at 2 o'clock by his Worship the Mayor, who congratulated the society on the number and excellence of their exhibits, notwithstanding an opposition show which had taken place previously. Mr R. Wilson, Vice-President, responded on behalf of the society, stating that regarding the change of standard made, the society had only acted in accordance with one of its primary rules. Three cheers were given for his Worship the Mayor, who then declared the show open to the public. We are compelled to hold over our report until tomorrow. We may, however, mention that the number of exhibits this year is considerably more than on any previous occasion, and the display in some of the classes is really magnificent, notably in the canaries. The special prize for poultry (silver medal) has been secured by Mr Harper, who also takes the same honor (barometer) for pigeons. Mr Alberte secures the trophy (cup) for canaries, after a close contest with Mr Bradshaw. The show will be open this evening till ten o'clock, and all day to-morrow, and will no doubt attract a good many visitors.
