WASTE LANDS BOARD.
At this morning's meeting of the Waste Lands Board there were presents—Messrs A. C. Strode (in the chair), Butterworth, and Clark. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Mr Alex. M'Lennan applied for permission to take up section 22, block 2, Glenkenich District, at the upset price of L4OO, without its being submitted to auction.—Refused, the land having to be advertised for sale for thirty days. The District Land Officer at Naseby telegraphed recommending that survey fee paid b y Messrs Newmarch, W. Moore, R. Moore, and R. Webber should be refunded to them, or that they should be credited with the respective amounts as purchase money; also in the cases of C. A. De Lautour and John G. Bremner. —Refused.
Messrs Connell and Moodie for the Municipal Council of Oamarn applied to be allowed to purchase section 30, block 3, Awatnoko District, for Oamam water supply purposes.—The Board, having no power to grant the application, decided to recommend the Government to reserve the land for the purpose named. Mr Timothy Gorman’s application to purchase two acres at the Eirtleburn on which his hotel is built, numbered section 1, block 7, Cromwell District, was considered,—The following was minuted—Consent of owners of run or that of their attorney to be obtained' and' survey to be made according to date given in District Land Officer’s letter of 23rd March, 1876. The District Officer, Queenstown, forwarded a plan of subdivision of quarry reserve, Few’s Creek, Mid-Wakatip district, for approval, and suggested that J. Leering be allowed to select a section if he desires to do so. The plan was approved, as was also the recommendation. Mr J. S. Webb, for Mr David Gardner, applied for return of L2l 13s 4d, deposit on deferred payment applications made at Invercargill on the 26th April last. Adjourned The Receiver of Land Revenue transmitted the agricultural and deferred payment lease for section 39, block 9, MidWakatip district, to be dealt with under the Waste Lands Act, and drew attention to the applicant having previously obtained exchanges of agricultural for deferred payment leases for an area exceeding 200 acres, as per list attached, dated 29th Augnst,’ 1876.—The following was minuted : “The matter has been proceeded with so far bymistake. Resolved that the request be hot granted.”
Messrs Nation and Harris applied on behalf of Messrs Howell, ?AnghaTn ; and Cocks, the lessees of Bun 340, for agricultural lease pre-emptive right of 640 acres under Waste Lands Act, 1872.—Adjourned until the matter comes up from the Government.
Messrs Connell and Moodie, for John Anderson, applied to have deposit paid under the deferred payment system for section 2i, block 5, North Glenkenich, applied as deposit in Chatton District. - Bequest granted, deposit to be refunded on condition that section is applied for in Chatton District. Messrs James P. Hill and Joseph Maher applied to exchange an agricultural for a deferred payment lease of sections 53, 54, 55, 56, 57, 66, 67, and 68, block 1, Wendon district, Bequest in its present form refused, the acreage exceeding 200. Plans of unsurveyed sections in the Waipori, Maungatua, Kauroo, Otepopo, Wyndham, Mohorata, Tuturau, Humarochside, Crookstown, and Akatore districts were approved. 1
The Chairman gave instructions te the Clerk to ascertain whether the report recently - published re the existence of a nuisance in the form of a piggery at the Ocean Beach Sandhills was correct.
