FIRE.

Shortly after four o’clock this afternoon an alarm of fire in Leith Ward was rung out from the Bell Tower. The scene of the fire proved to be a double detached cottage m Albany street, owned by Mr William Harrop, and occupied by William Burn, ( who was burnt out in Dowling street a short time ago), and the other by Mrs Johnson, who keeps lodgers. The fire was caused by Mrs Bum’s little boy, aged five years, setting light, during his mother’s absence from the room, to some tarpaulin that had been deposited in a cupboard. The house occupied by Burn was completely tutted, but the other cottage was more am iged by water than by fire. Neither accuser was insured, and both lose most of their furniture. The premises were insured in the South British.
