August 25.—Anna, ketch, 29 tons, Stout, from Oamaru. SAILED. August 25.—Taiaroa, s.s., 228 tons, Peterson, for Timaru. August 26.—Bobycito, barque, 462 tons, Hodge, for Newcastle. The barque Glencoe took advantage of the N.E. breeze this morning, and sailed up the harbor to Dunedin. The Union Company's steamer Taiaroa sailed last evening for Timaru. The ketch Anna, from Oamaru, arrived yesterday afternoon, and passed the Port to Dunedin. The s s. Maori was taken into the floating dock yesterday afternoon for her periodical overhaul.

On June 18 Messrs Thomas Wingate and Co., Whiteincb, launched from their shipbuilding yard an iron paddle tug-steamer, named the Koputai. of 221 tons b.m., fitted with a pair of compcund surface condensing disconnecting engines of 120borse power nominal, with patent floats. She has been built to the order of Mr John Darling, and is meant for the Port Chalmers towing trade. After the launch the vessel was taken into the builders' dock to receive her machinery. Messrs Thomas Wingate and Co. launched a handsome screw steamer on the sth July named the Wanaki, of 445 tons b.m., compound surfacecondensing engines of 120 h.p. nominal, and built to the order cf the Uni6n Steamship Company. She •is classed AIOO at Lloyd's, has elegant nasßenger accommodation, with all the latest improvements in each department, and a high rate of speed is expected.

SHIPPING TJ3LEGEAMS. Weuinoion, August 25.—Sailed i Arawata, for the S.nith, at 3 p.m. Passengers: Messrs Shield, Davies, Williams, Brawn, Mr, Miss, and Master Brown. August 26—The Taranaki sailed South at 8 p.m. Passengers: Misses King and Eeeves; Messrs Ebbett, Deok, Shaw, Hurst, Foldie, Burne, and Watkin. Lyttelton, August 25.—A magisterial inquiry was held to-day re the collision between *he Australian Sovereign and Ann, barque, on July 21, when about thirty miles from Newcastle. After hearing the evidence, the Bench returned the officers' certificates. Arrived ; H&lcione, ship, from London, after a passage of eighty-five days from land to land, and of ninety-one days from the Lizard; all well. Captain Croker is in command. The vessel met with remarkably heavy weather during the latter portion of her passage, and an able seaman named William Westcott was lost overboard whilst making fast the maintopmast staysail on July 25.
