CITY COUNCIL.

The order paper, for Tuesday's meeting commences with the two deferred notices of motion re tramways in Cr. Isaac's name, and eleven new notices. The principal of the latter are to call for tenders for the construction of a brick sewer from Serpentine Avenue to connect with the Rattray street sewer; to construct a sewer in Union street, from George street to the Water of T.eith at Castle street; to form and metal Union street, from Castle street to Harbor Terrace, and Harbor Terrace from Albany street to Dundas street; to kerb and channel tita east side of George Btreet from Frederick street to the Water of Leith; and to immediately call for tenders to lay down the brick sewer already authorised in Frederick street, and for laying mains audgaspipes in such streets in the City as are now without a gas supply, in accordance with the Engineer's report; and to accept the lowest tender "received for the erection of a footbridge across the Leith at Harbor Terrace. Or. Fish will move the following:— That in the opinion of this Council it is desirable that the Fever Hospital should be abolished as soon as possible; that with a view of giving effect to the foregoing, no more patients be received into the Hospital after this d.te; that the Health Officer and sanitary ingpeo ots be directed as soon as practicable to ttiroqfc- their attend ion solely to these duties for which they were primarily anjjointed. *
