LABOR AND IMMIGRATION.
To the Editor. Sm, —I fear your correspondent, “Old Identity,” is the only person to be found in Otago who wishes to recognise the distinguished services ot Mr Adam, and even he IB . ashamed to let hia name be known. . As an admirer of our late Immigration Agent, I bbBMTO that “ Old Identity’s ” opinions hate undergone a change; as instead of a nwvice of plate and a public banquet, he Bow tbiulra a public meeting .would be a sufficient recognition of those services which Adam has given to Otago, after being *eQ. salaried by the Province.. Would it #ot. be a wise plan on the part of the work-ing-men of Dunedin, whether employed or fioemployed, to ’ convene a public meeting $1 gome large hall of the town, to consider ~«nr present position and future prospects, ' n the preient system of immigration is to be continued, and invite his Worship the ! Jfaynri to preside.—lam, &c., James Thomas. ■* Dunedin, August 22.
