Auckland, August 22. The National Bank has received a cablegram announcing a dividend of 6 per cent., and stating that the reports were adopted.
Nelson, August 23. lu the Supreme Court, Fowler v. M‘Arthur, an action for L 6,000 damages, for malicious prosecution, which had been sent for a new trial from Christchurch where a farthing damages had been given, was heard. After two days’ trial, the jury returned a verdict for plaintiff, fixing damages at L4OO.
