PARLIAMENT.
[By Telegraph.]
ABOUT THE LOBBIES.
(From our own Correspondent) Wellington, August 21. A caucus of Sir George Grey's followers held on Saturday ended in nothing. Sir George refuses to accept anything less than personal power and universal freedom for the human race.
A meeting of all the Auckland members Is convened for to-day to consider the propriety of making terms with the Government to obtain aid for the Province.
Messrs M'Donald (Mayor of the Thames) and Brodie (Chairman of the Waitihai Road Board) are here as delegates to meet Sir Julius Vogel to-day. Sir George Grey and Mr Rowe have been requested to attend. There is a general feeling of disgust amongst the Auckland members at Sir George's impracticablity. The majority on the Counties Bill is increasing. Mr Reid proposes two Counties for Otago. Mr G. E. Read has been unseated by the Committee for the East Coast Maori Electoral seat, and Mr Morris declared entitled to it.
