To the E‘Htdr. ■ . - —There are several peculiar features held yesterday - oil the body..of Mary Cameron ihat require "ah explanation. It is rather in a case’of so suspieious a nature the menical gentleman who first saw the dead body,- even before the constable, T "believe, in the poeii-ian in which it was found, and who: took a note'of the surrounding circumstance and who was certainly from the above facts the best qualified <fco give an opinion as to whether the death was brought about by accident, by suicide!, ,<or by homicide, should never be called as ,a.r witness-, .either by the police or the medical gentleman in active practice who ■i -acte as cOroper—though from the information conveyed it ia difficult to see how ieithei the police: or .the coroner can deny knowledge of the fact that such a gentleman bad first seen the case. As,,this is not the first instance in which the evidence of those most competent to judge has appeared to > o not required the authorities, I trust some -explanation will be given. Further, the Resident Surgeon of the Hospital must have known little of the pro • - .penalties of rati, when he accounted for such serious and suspicious injuries to the poor umforttmate’s scalp and skull-purely by the fall, rats, and crabs. The last is really aridiculoua.—l am, &c., Gymfie. Dunedin, August 15.
